Human Rights Project

Mission

The Urban Justice Center's Human Rights Project (HRP) works at both the local and national levels to equip advocates with information and tools to promote domestic compliance with universally accepted human rights standards. We educate elected officials and the community at large on human rights norms and utilize the arts to grow the broader human rights movement.

HRP has been at the forefront of the U.S. human rights movement for over a decade, effectively advocating for New York City’s most vulnerable across a range of issues. We are working to create a society where the right to health, housing, education and other standards necessary to live in dignity are guaranteed. The human rights framework and tools bring new possibilities in the face of limited remedies, and hope where there is despair.
