Schedule of past trainings for 2007-2008:
2008
April 17th to 20th — (Local Implementation of International Treaties Workshop). HRP, in collaboration with the Human Rights City Project of Eugene, Oregon, offered a workshop at the National Human Rights Conference in Chicago.The workshop was entitled "Elevating the Struggle for Justice, One City at a Time. The facilitators provided participants with nuts and bolts examples of different strategies for implementing human rights treaties, specifically those that advance an agenda for racial, social, and economic justice.
February 3rd to 6th — (Local Implementation of International Treaties Training). HRP, in partnership with WILD for Human Rights and the US Human Rights Network, hosted our annual Human Rights Institute for groups from around the country.
2007
July 24th — (CERD Shadow Reporting). HRP offered a mini-training on CERD and the Shadow Reporting Process at 3pm at Hunter College, 425 E. 25th St. (east of 1st Ave.) in the Osborne Room. The training will precede the NYC CERD Working Group meeting scheduled from 4-6pm on the same day and at the same venue.
June 30th — (CERD Shadow Reporting). HRP offered two workshops at the US Social Forum in Atlanta, GA. One of the workshops was on racial justice and human rights including the CERD Shadow Reporting Process. June 29th — (Local Implementation of International Treaties Training). HRP offered two workshops at the US Social Forum in Atlanta, GA. One of the workshops was on local implementation of human rights treaties. Please see the USSF 2007 website for information on the workshop titled Implementing Human Rights, One City at a time.
June 19th — (CERD Shadow Reporting). HRP hosted second NYC CERD Working Group meeting.
June 14th — (CERD Shadow Reporting). HRP, in collaboration with the Fund for Santa Barbara, offered a racial justice and human rights workshop for community groups in Santa Barbara, CA.
May 17th — (Using Human Rights in Local Advocacy Training). HRP, in collaboration with the Women of Color Policy Network, and WILD for Human Rights, hosted a CEDAW training on May 17th for local groups that work with low-income women of color. The training was followed by a reception with CEDAW committee members.
April 13th — (Using Human Rights in Local Advocacy Training). HRP, in collaboration with Seton Hall Law School offered a training focused on Immigration in Newark, NJ. Several groups from New Jersey participated the training.
March 15th — (CERD Shadow Reporting). HRP hosts the first NYC CERD Working Group meeting.
